Retronomicon 06.29.11: Micro Machines

Hello you beautiful people and welcome, once again, to the column that makes you tingle in your happy places, the Retronomicon. As ever I am your host Lee Price and I am here to deliver unto you the greatest games to have ever graced our consoles. Or at least deliver a write-up on them anyway. Right then, we need some text to get us past that advert on the right so, erm, how about that local sports team? They are certainly doing well for themselves. Well unless they are River Plate, in which case their fans are on a murderous rampage, but that's neither here nor there. My gaming has been split between two titles this week. Firstly, I'm still making slow progress through Assassin's Creed II. There are far too many little bits and bobs that can distract me with that game and its hindering my progress. I have also picked up Shadows of the Damned. I've only sat down with it for a couple of hours thus far, but I'm loving every minute of it. I would definitely recommend it. Anyway I think that's enough talking now, so let's get cracking with the… As far as the game goes, one of my favorite from the SNES and of all time. The boss fights are really what made it great though. They were massive monstrosities that involved some fun gameplay to defeat. I wish this would come out on the VC. I still play the GBA version all the time. I cant for the life of me collect everything to open up the hidden levels though. Very difficult game to 100% To address the comments individually though, AG you are completely correct in that the boss fights rocked. I also agree with Missy and IWC Member that the 16 Bit console war is probably the best console war ever fought. It was so even and produced so many great games. I also lean more towards the Genesis as well, as anyone who cares to research all of my columns would be able to point out. Let's just say there is a little bit of a skew. Seeing both companies trying to constantly one-up each other was a thing of beauty. And Jimmy, I'll let you know if I require your "Legal" muscle in the near future. It all started with a range of toy cars. Back in the mid 1980's, famed toy and board game manufacturer Hasbro had hit upon the idea of creating mega-miniature versions of a host of different vehicles as their latest product. The idea was a hit as kids bought the cheap and cheerful toy cars by the bundle and soon Hasbro were developing new models and vehicles to be used in the line-up.

You were a female genie who lived in a lighthouse and fought pirates. As an aside, I would like to say that one thing I've always noticed about 1990′s 2D platformers that were not first-party Nintendo or Sega games, let's call them “alternative

The History Of Nintendo (Part 2/3) | Console Game Video

@coolboy9991 Do Your homework the playstation 1 wos an add on for the snes designed by nintendo with parts supplied by sony then nintendo scrapped it thinking it wosn’t time for a cd medium so sony released it as the sony playstation so without nintendo the ps1 wouldn’t exist…and the wii is the biggest joke in gaming i cant argue with that..

@queenjoanne1984 Sony is fuckin a game changer. Sony is what introduced CD-ROM to the gaming media.

Without Atari there wouldnt even be video games. Sony has made the best controller just take a look at the ps1,s and compare it to the Nintendo,s 64. Sony will always be the better game maker and the PlayStation consoles are always better then the Nintendo,s. ps1 is better then N64. ps2 is better the the GameCube. ps3 destroys the Wii.

The Nintendo Wii is the biggest joke in console gaming.

FUCK U SONY

FORGET SONY.. BTW SONY MAKES 3RD PARTY MONEY. WITHOUT NINTENDO VIDEO GAMES WOULD NOT BE A MEDIA PHENOM=UNLIKE SONY WHO HAS TO WAIT TO SEE WHAT NINTY INVENT=GAME CRASH.
