Astrology aims high for 2011 Iowa Derby

Although 2011 is not the Year of the Horse in Chinese Zodiac charts, the Steve Asmussen project may yet have a victory in the cards. The three-year-old Kentucky-bred Thoroughbred colt is the hands-down favorite for Saturday's Iowa Derby. Jockey Mike Smith has the mount.

Astrology finished third in the 2011 Preakness Stakes on May 21, coming in behind Shackleford and Animal Kingdom.

Other Iowa Derby favorites include Caleb's Posse, Dreaminofthewin, Prayer For Relief and Sherriff Cogburn.

The $250,000 Iowa Derby is a Grade II drace for three-year-old Thoroughbreds, running 1 1/6 miles on dirt at Prairie Meadows Racetrack in Altoona, Iowa, as part of the Iowa Festival of Racing.
