HGTV Comes to Pittsburgh: Launches New Reality Home Show in Cranberry
In cranberries.The show, which is filmed in cities across the country, two pits experts against each other in competition for the design of the house better model. The members of the community where the show is filmed act as judges and get to choose the winning look.
HGTV Leslie Appleyard, who produced the episode of Pittsburgh, said she learned not to predict who will win the calling of design. Various presentations were very popular in different cities, she said.
"You never know," she said. "Some of them are landslides, some of them are within two votes."
Kevin Oakley, marketing director for Heartland Homes, said the residences located on Center Drive and Castle Oak Brook Drive off Garvin Road, will be open to public holidays from 1 to 15:00 on August 27. The first 150 people to tour the homes get to be judges and their views on which aerial designer should be named winner.
HGTV producer Grayson Brooke said Showhouse Showdown, which is based on a successful television show of the same name in Ireland, Premiere will be in September.Former bachelor Bob Guiney season IV, affectionately known to fans of Bob Bachelor, will host the series.
Appleyard said the reality star, who was also the host of TLC "Date My House" is something of an expert in home improvement, not to mention a ham for the camera.
"He loves the crowds," she said. "It really gets everyone in it."
Oakley said the developers started working on the house months ago. A designer is to Pittsburgh. The other is from Philadelphia.Oakley said the names of the experts will not be disclosed until the shooting is completed so that the public will be no bias towards a particular designer when they enter homes.
"We tried to find two of the best designers in the region," said Brooke.
In addition to the color of the paint and furniture, the designers chose the floor, appliances, countertops and more than five rooms in the houses. Oakley said it's something of a risk of Heartland, because there is no guarantee the houses, which are sold at about $ 800 000 each, will sell after the designers add their personal touch.
"We pretty much this entry a lot," said Oakley while squeezing her fingers tight.
The final look of homes also come as a surprise to Marty Gillespie, president of Heartland Homes. Oakley said Gillespie was banned from buildings under construction. The cameras will capture the face of Gillespie, as it happens in homes for the first time Aug. 27.
